A Simple Prayer, a Big God
When Light & Hope for the Philippines first dreamed of the Backpack of Hope, our prayer was simple: provide 50 backpacks filled with school supplies for Filipino elementary students. We believed it was a small ask for our big God.
However, God had even greater plans. As a result, He stretched our vision from 50 to 100 backpacks—and He faithfully provided every single one.
God’s Provision: 101 Backpacks Delivered
Through prayer and support from generous donors, 101 backpacks were delivered to a Christian church and a local elementary school. At first, we thought this was the end of the story, but God wasn’t finished yet. Moreover, His faithfulness continued to surprise us.
Answered Prayers: Reaching More Children
Just over a week later, a rural church with 68 elementary children reached out for help. Once again, prayers were answered, and every child received a backpack filled with school supplies. In addition, volunteers were able to personally encourage the children and share God’s love during the delivery.
From 50 to 169: A Story of Multiplication
What started as a prayer for 50 backpacks has now grown into 169 backpacks, each placed in the hands of a child in need in the Philippines. Indeed, God multiplied our small request into something far beyond what we could imagine. Furthermore, every backpack represents a tangible reminder to each child that they are loved, seen, and supported.
